I ask these questions mostly ironically and without alarm, since for my whole adult life I havebeen engaged in another pursuit our forefathers and mothers would have consigned to the reignof the Prince of Darkness: making things out of words that aspire to both beauty and truth. I havemore than once wondered that the work of writing poems, essays, and stories, which seems soinevitable a part of living--and which so many better Christians than me found to be so--shouldhave been thought part of the "abomination" by our earnest forerunners.
A gracious woman gets honor, and violent men get riches. A man who is kind benefits himself, but a cruel man hurts himself. The wicked earns deceptive wages, but one who sows righteousness gets a sure reward. Whoever is steadfast in righteousness will live, but he who pursues evil will die. Those of crooked heart are an abomination to the Lord, but those of blameless ways are his delight. ...

When you come into the land that the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations the Lord your God is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God, ...
If a man commits adultery with the wife of his neighbor, both the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death. If a man lies with his father's wife, he has uncovered his father's nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed perversion; their blood is upon them. If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them. If a man takes a woman and her mother also, it is depravity; he and they shall be burned with fire, that there may be no depravity among you. ...
You shall not see your brother's ox or his sheep going astray and ignore them. You shall take them back to your brother. And if he does not live near you and you do not know who he is, you shall bring it home to your house, and it shall stay with you until your brother seeks it. Then you shall restore it to him. And you shall do the same with his donkey or with his garment, or with any lost thing of your brother's, which he loses and you find; you may not ignore it. You shall not see your brother's donkey or his ox fallen down by the way and ignore them. You shall help him to lift them up again. A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God. ...
No God doesnt make mistakes therefore He didnt make anyone gay! "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination" (Leviticus 18:22). "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them" (Leviticus 20:13). No one sin is greater than the other. We have sinned and come short of God's glory but it is up to us to ask for forgiveness.
although i commend you for coming out and taking that chance of being discriminated against even more, this doesnt stop the fact that its an abomination in God's eyes. the Bible isnt meant to be read as parables or metaphors. those things the Bible speaks of actually happened. it all depends on your faith and how you receive or perceive those things. it amazes me how people interpret the Bible to fit their lifestyles. im not gonna condemn you or even say that hell is the place where you will lift your eyes. its not my place to judge, however i will say that you will forever be in my prayers. i will pray for you and all the people that you will affect with your message. thank God that He is a forgiving God and as long as we have breath in our bodies there will always be a chance to repent. God bless you.
Its sad that in this day and age there are people as pompous and ignorant as you. I am sure my God loves everyone equally and I am sure being Gay IS NOT an abomination or a birth defect, people are born gay or straight. My being straight is no different than someone being gay, it is who we are.
"although i commend you for coming out and taking that chance of being discriminated against even more, this doesnt stop the fact that its an abomination in God's eyes. the Bible isnt meant to be read as parables or metaphors. those things the Bible speaks of actually happened"
The big problem with using the bible and "God's word" for moral behavior and moral thought is which parts are you gonna use and which parts you aren't? You said "this doesnt stop the fact that its an abomination in God's eyes" which fine because in the very next chapter it says we should stone to death all disobedient children.
why is it okay to pick and choose by enforcing one thing but not enforcing the other? it's okay to call gays abominations but we don't have to stone our children, that's not consistent nor is it fair.
speaking of picking in choosing Luke 16:18 Christ defined a man or woman who has divorced and remarried as also being an adulterer. this is also an abomination in gods eyes why is okay to allow this but not gays? Why can you pick and choose what to follow and what not too?
International traffic in military weapons by organized crime interests is an abomination and should be interdicted by governments using every legal means. It would be fuzzy-headed, however, to equate that situation with that of the hapless lawyer in Mexico City who resorts to criminalizing himself to obtain a sporting arm for traditional use. In this use his illicit Perazzi will be less a threat to his neighbors than the gentleman's automobile, contributing to Mexico City's notorious air pollution.
Then the Great Spirit will speak with a voice of thunder to the remainingshame-faced multitude: Hear ye: it is through great mercy that you havebeen permitted to enter these happy hunting-grounds. Therefore I chargeyou in presence of these red men that you are guilty of having tyrannized overthem in many and strange ways. I find you guilty of having made wantonwholesale butchery of their game and fish, I find you guilty of using tobacco,a poisonous weed made only to kill parasites on plants and lice on man and[15]beast. You found it with the red men, who used it only in smoking the pipeof peace, to confirm their contracts, in place of a seal. But you multiplied itsuse, not only in smoking, but in chewing, snuffing, thus forming unhealthy, filthy habits, and by cigarettes, the abomination of abominations, learnedlittle children to hunger and thirst after the father and mother of palsy andcancers.
Speaking for the God of Love, I might well be expected to bear no malice or hatred in my breast. Yet I am constrained to confess to you, brethren, that I do hate selfishness. Not selfish men; God forbid, they are my brothers; but selfishness, that plague-spot of human life--that parent of its errors and its misery. Surely it is hateful when we look hard at it. Hateful when incarnate in an opinion, a mere human speculation, which yet dares to say to the consciences of men, Believe me: I am the Truth. Hateful when seated upon a throne and crowned, not to rule for the good of the many, but to cry to the peoples, I am Power; obey me. Hateful when its mouthpiece is a demagogue, who seems to say to a deluded populace, Claim your rights, but who in truth whispers, Carry me to power. But never so intensely hateful as when, crouching behind a lustful passion, reckless of shame and cost, it mutters aloud, Gratify me. And we are on this occasion led inevitably to reflect on this the most odious and repulsive of all the known forms of selfishness. Nowhere, you will observe, are the ravages of selfishness so dreadful as in the sphere which is traversed by the Church Penitentiary Asssociation on its blessed errand of mercy. Nowhere else is self worshipped with sacrifices of such price and beauty. Here, like another Moloch, it is appeased by the agony of human victims; here its altars are indeed reddened with human gore. Elsewhere it may content itself with wealth, or incense, or supremacy, or pleasure; here it must have the bodies and the souls of women and of men. It feeds upon the bloom and health and life-strength of its victim's body, after contemptuously snatching and casting to the winds the peace and joy and conscience and salvation of that victim's soul. What, I would ask, is this selfishness of sensuality, when really reigning in a man, but the very abomination of desolation in the temple of God? What is this stamp of moral and physical degradation, which proclaims the reign of sensualised self, but the genuine mark of the Beast? 2ff7e9595c
